The Leaning Tower of Pisa

The leaning tower of Pisa is a tower in Italy. It is seen in the episodes: How We Became the Little Einsteins: The True Story and The Birthday Machine.

The Leaning Tower of Pisa (Italian: torre pendente di Pisa), or simply the Tower of Pisa (torre di Pisa [ˈtorre di ˈpiːza; ˈpiːsa]), is the campanile, or freestanding bell tower, of the cathedral of the Italian city of Pisa, known worldwide for its nearly four-degree lean, the result of an unstable foundation. The tower is situated behind the Pisa Cathedral and is the third-oldest structure in the city's Cathedral Square (Piazza del Duomo), after the cathedral and the Pisa Baptistry.

The height of the tower is 55.86 metres (183.27 feet) from the ground on the low side and 56.67 metres (185.93 feet) on the high side. The width of the walls at the base is 2.44 m (8 ft 0.06 in). Its weight is estimated at 14,500 metric tons (16,000 short tons). The tower has 296 or 294 steps; the seventh floor has two fewer steps on the north-facing staircase.

The tower began to lean during construction in the 12th century, due to soft ground which could not properly support the structure's weight, and it worsened through the completion of construction in the 14th century. By 1990, the tilt had reached 5.5 degrees. The structure was stabilized by remedial work between 1993 and 2001, which reduced the tilt to 3.97 degrees.

The leaning of the Tower of Pisa comes into the story in 1173, when construction began. Thanks to the soft ground, it had begun to lean by the time its builders got to the third story, in 1178. Shifting soil had destabilized the tower's foundations.

In The Birthday Machine, the whole team head to the top of the Leaning Tower of Pisa and made it to the last part of the birthday machine, and once they made it to the top, they noticed that there are three same pieces of the last part of the birthday machine, but they all sound different, so Quincy had to look and listen carefully for the last piece of the birthday machine which sounds like a violin and Quincy got the second last piece of the birthday machine and head back to Rocket and use his grab-nabber to put the last piece of the birthday machine next to the clapping piece. Soon, the birthday machine starts, Annie and the whole team sang the birthday machine song, but the machine needs more power, so they sang the birthday machine louder, forte, and the birthday machine produce more power, but the birthday machine needs even more power, so they sang the birthday machine even louder one last time!

Soon, the birthday machine produce balloons, goody bags, and birthday cakes to the whole team (including Rocket, The Leaning Tower of Pisa, trio of books and everyone in the whole wide world). Mission Completion and a Happy Birthday!
