The Peer Gynt Suite No. 1, Op. 46, is the first of two suites written by the Norwegian composer, Edvard Grieg. It is an adaptation from his incidental music work for the 1867 play, Peer Gynt, directed by Norwegian playwright Henrik Ibsen, created by extracting eight movements from his original incidental music work to make two four-movement suites. Peer Gynt Suite No. 1 was first published in 1888, whilst the other suite, Peer Gynt Suite No. 2, Op. 55 was published in 1893.

It has been used in four episodes of Season 1, and one episode in Season 2.

In Season 1[]

In I Love to Conduct, Morning Mood was used to sing that Leo had lost his baton, June loved to dance while leaping on top of each orcas, and Leo having his baton back.

In Dragon Kite, In The Hall of the Mountain King was used to sing the kite parade song and help little red dragon kite to go around K2 mountain eighteen times to get to the top of K2 Mountain to rescue the orange dragon kite.

In A Little Einsteins Halloween, In The Hall of the Mountain King was used to sing that we're here to trick or treat song and yummy trick or treat and Morning Mood was used from the Palace of Versailles to enter the Halloween party.

In The Good Knight and the Bad Knight, Morning Mood was used to sing the drawbridge song to help the Good Knight's Castle entrance door to open and close and In The Hall of the Mountain King was used for beginning the derby race at the Royal Fair to get the key.

In Season 2[]

In The Secret Mystery Prize, In The Hall of the Mountain King was used to sing all of the golden key to unlock the secret mystery prize and Morning Mood was used to conduct the Torii Gate a crescendo to get out of the water.

Trivia[]

  • It is the only composition by Grieg to appear in both seasons of Little Einsteins.
  • The original incidental music work that inspired the Peer Gynt Suites originally contained 26 movements. The Suites were created by extracting eight movements to create two-four movement suites.
  • Because of its popularity, numerous movements of the suites have been used as incidental music throughout popular culture.
