The Pat and Blast Off Sequences is a section from the series' episodes that happen before the team blasts off. Leo buckles his seatbelt with the rest of the team and then pats with the team to power up Rocket. After showing that June, Quincy, and Annie are patting, Leo then says he needs more power, so he has the viewers (kids) watching the show to put their hands on their laps and pat along with him to the beat. Then after that, they pat faster and Rocket is powering up to blast off!! After that he tells the viewer to raise their arms as high as they can and say "Blastoff!".
Facts[]
In season 1 of the show, there is a second short version of the Pat and Blast Off Sequences. After buckling seatbelts, the team pat 8 times. There is no "June is patting... Quincy's patting... Annie's patting..." section and cuts to the Blastoff. Instead of "Now raise your arms as high as you can, and say 'Blastoff!'" Leo says "Now raise BOTH arms, and say 'Blastoff!'". It also replaces the line before the patting: "Put your hands on your lap, and pat with us!" to, "Put your hands on your lap, and pat with us to the beat!" There is only one season 1 episode where both Pat and Blast Off Sequences were the short version, which is "The Good Knight and the Bad Knight", and one Season 1 Episode where both Pat and Blast Off Sequences were the full version, which is "The Incredible Shrinking Adventure". Also, there is two episodes where there was only the short version of the Pat and Blast Off Sequences, which are "Dragon Kite" and "A Tall Totem Tale".
In the 2nd season, the Sequence is shortened a tiny bit, possibly to make room for the new Super Fast Sequences, except "Quincy and the Magic Instruments". After buckling seatbelts and patting, the sequence immediately skips to the "Faster!" part. The "June is patting... Quincy's patting... Annie's patting..." section and the "But we need more power!" section is cut. Leo also has his lines re-voiced, keeping the "Blastoff!" lines intact. In addition, during the part where Leo says "Faster!", he had a frown in Season 1, while in Season 2, he had a smile on his face.
There were some instances where during the "Now raise your arms as high as you can" part, Leo raises his hands up slightly during the first half, and all the way during the "as high as you can" part, instead of patting quadrice then raising up his hands. The episodes that feature this are "Hungarian Hiccups", "The Northern Night Light", "A Galactic Goodnight", "A Brand New Outfit", and "The Missing Invitation". This variant is called the "Pilot" variant, because its first appearance was during the Pilot, Our Big HUGE Adventure.
The episodes "Knock on Wood" and "The Birthday Machine" have the "Now raise your arms as high as you can, and say 'Blastoff!'" line instead of the proper line during the Short version of the Pat and Blast Off Sequences. These versions also have the "Prepare for Blastoff! We're going to need a lot of power to blast off!" line instead of the proper "We're going to need a lot of power to blast off! Put your hands on your lap, and pat with us to the beat" line.
There were some episodes where the "June is patting… Quincy's patting… Annie's patting…." section was extended to fit the character of the day. In "The Mouse and the Moon" Leo says "Little Mouse is patting his paws!" as Little Mouse is patting, in "O Yes, O Yes, It's Springtime!", Leo says "Baby Tulip's patting!" as Baby Tulip is patting, and in "Duck, Duck, June", Leo says "Ducky's patting! Good following, Ducky." as the baby duckling is patting.
There were some instances in some episodes of Season 2 where instead of using Season 2's Pat and Blast Off Sequences, Season 1's Pat and Blast Off Sequences was used instead. The episodes that feature this are "The Wild Goose Chase", "Build It, Rocket!", and "Go Team!".
During the pilot episode's second Pat and Blast Off Sequences, there is a shot of the whole team patting. They were used in Our Big HUGE Adventure (during the first Short Pat and Blast Off Sequences), "Ring Around the Planet" (To help Rocket get himself out from the Space Goop with aid from the Meeps), "The Mouse and the Moon" (To give Rocket more power so he be able to get up the Ski Lift) and "The Incredible Shrinking Adventure" (To help Rocket lift the Shrinking Machine's parts during the second Pat and Blast Off Sequences). Said shot was also used in "Go West, Young Train" to help Little Red Train go Allegro or Adagio, which also adds Rocket's Look and Listen Scope's screen showing the speed (not used in a Pat and Blast Off Sequence, which still uses the original).
A "submarine" variant of the Pat and Blast Off Sequences was used in "The Great Sky Race Rematch". Instead of saying "Pat" during patting, Leo says "Splash". This also changed the lines: Leo says "Put your hands on your lap, and say "Splash!" instead of "Put your hands on your lap, and pat with us!" It also was the only variant to re-voice the "Faster!" and "Now raise your arms as high as you can, and say 'Blastoff!'" lines.
Also a "roller coaster" variant was used in "The Great Schubert's Guessing Game", where they pat up the roller coaster and blast off before the drop and launch.
A "train" variant was also used in "Mr. Penguin's Ice Cream Adventure", where they give Ice Cream Train Rocket a lot of power and blast off before they start chugging down the tracks.
And a "Pianissimo" variant of the Pat and Blast Off Sequences (the short version), was used in the end of "A Galactic Goodnight". Leo says that he and his team must be very quiet to go home, so that they don't want to wake Rocket up after falling asleep following counting 8 planets and 1 dwarf planet. Then, he said the line "We're going to need a lot of power to blast off!" quietly. And it also changes the line: "Put your hands on your lap, and pat the beat Pianissimo!" instead of "Put your hands on your lap, and pat with us to the beat!" And once the team has finished patting softly, Leo says "Now raise your arms, and whisper 'Blast Off!'" instead of "Now raise both arms, and say 'Blast Off!'" along with the team and they head back to the Rocket Room at planet Earth.
Trivia[]
- In "The Birthday Balloons", the pat and blast off sequences has different music. This might have been a leftover from pre-production/early-post production, as this episode and "Ring Around the Planet" were the first two episodes made for the series.
- In "The Good Knight and The Bad Knight" and "A Tall Totem Tale", during the Short Version of the Pat and Blast Off Sequences, as Leo is patting, he is only seen patting inside Rocket and it does not cut to Rocket revving after the fourth pat. This means that the whole Pat and Blast Off Sequences takes place inside Rocket without going outside.
- In "Annie and the Little Toy Plane", the blast off music is extended a bit due to the line "We need to give Rocket, and Purple Plane, a lot of power!". The ending of the part of the BGM before the team starts patting (when Leo says "Put your hands on your lap, and pat with us!") is repeated three times instead of one.

Errors[]
- For most episodes of Season 1 and Season 2, the team are using their seatbelts buckled, while Rocket's Speaker is absent and in "Melody the Music Pet", Rocket's Speaker is now 3D instead of 2D.
- You may notice an error where Leo buckles his seatbelts but if you look carefully when he does it his stripe strangely becomes dark orange from Our
BigHUGE Adventure. - In the "Pilot" variant, there were some errors. During the part where Leo says "Put your hands on your lap, and pat with us!", he had a frown on his face instead of a smile in the white screen and in "A Brand New Outfit" in the Caterpillar Wheat Field (Wheat Field with Cypresses by Vincent van Gogh), and when they say "Blastoff!" all of their seatbelts are unbuckled, and Rocket's dome is strangely hot pink and without a texture instead of blue and Little Caterpillar isn't in Rocket.
- In "The Missing Invitation", a couple errors could be seen as well. After when the team buckle their seatbelts, during the "Seatbelts buckled!" part, Leo has his seatbelt unbuckled somehow, and Butterfly strangely has a seat! During the Pat and Blast Off Sequences, at "June is patting..." the camera is shifted slightly to the right, making June appear on the left of the screen instead of center and next to Rocket's controls. This might be a camera error because in the original, it was the second scene of Rocket's engines opening. During the part where Leo says "Faster!", he had a smile on his face instead of a frown, and Rocket was in a different area of the location instead of under the tree! When they say "Blastoff!", however, Butterfly is not there! Also, Leo's timing is way off, making him not say it in sync with the others, and Annie's seatbelt buckle is gone, leaving only the straps visible!
- In "The Wild Goose Chase", Annie has a pair of purple and pink converse styled shoes to buckle her seatbelt and raise her arms high instead of her blue shoes and white socks!
- And in "The Puppet Princess", after the Little Einsteins do the Blastoff Sequence, we can clearly see that Annie's sleeve is green instead of light blue. Annie's green sleeve was used in Season 1.
- And in "The Great Sky Race Rematch", the team are using their seatbelts buckled although Rocket's dashboard color is now green instead of blue.
- In "Go Team!", Leo is patting fast instead of slow before raising his arms high.
