Ludwig van Beethoven (birth date unknown, baptised 17 December 1770 – 26 March 1827) was a German composer and pianist who wrote in the late Classical and early Romantic periods.

Born in Bonn, he learned music at a young age and became a piano prodigy. His first teacher was his abusive father, he then switched over to the court organist. In 1792, he moved to Vienna to study under the famous Austrian composer Franz Joseph Haydn. During his early days, he was a virtuoso pianist wowing the aristocrats of Europe, but things took a turn for the worst in 1800 as he started to go deaf and as a result of the deafness and the changing society around him. He felt that music needed to see a change and focus more on the human aspect rather than entertainment. Works such as the Moonlight Sonata, the 3rd and 5th symphonies, and Fur Elise were the most famous works from that time. By 1820, he was completely deaf, getting angrier and paranoid towards people around him; although this decade was his most productive as he wrote the Ninth Symphony in 1824. Beethoven died in 1827 at the age of 56.

His music appeared in the special episode, Our Huge Adventure, and both Seasons 1 and 2 of Little Einsteins.
