Johannes Brahms (7 May 1833 - 3 April 1897) was a German composer, pianist, and conductor of the mid-Romantic period.

He was born in the town of Hamburg to a Lutheran Christian family, spending his professional life in Vienna, Austria. He composed for symphony orchestra, chamber ensembles, piano, organ, voice and chorus. He is a virtuoso pianist, having premiered his own works. Many of his works have since become staples of the modern concert repertoire.

His music appeared in Season 1 of Little Einsteins.

  • He is sometimes grouped with Johann Sebastian Bach and Ludwig van Beethoven as one of the "Three Bs" of music, which is a phrase that refers to the supposed primacy of the 3 said composers in classical music.
